A Covid 19 first aid facility will be set up in record time on the pier in the port of Piombino to assist the crew members of the Costa Diadema cruise ship who tested positive and are currently on board in non-serious conditions.
“Our Port Network Authority took immediate action to accommodate the medical facility that is being set up on the quayside,” said the President of the North Tyrrhenian Port Network Authority, Stefano Corsini.
“Located inside the enclosed area close to the terminal gate with round-the-clock surveillance by law enforcement and Port Security operators, the field hospital will be subject to the same access rules adopted to date, in order to ensure there is no physical interference with those outside the area concerned,” he added.
“Given the complexity of the organization and the results of the very close collaboration among all the institutions involved, I am confident that this experience will contribute significantly to optimizing the procedures for handling similar cases in other ports.”
