This afternoon, at Palazzo Rosciano, the President of the North Tyrrhenian Port Network Authority, Luciano Guerrieri, together with Managing Director, Massimo Provinciali, met the Interregional Director of the Customs Agency for Tuscany, Sardinia and Umbria, Roberto Chiara, accompanied by the heads of the Livorno offices.
“Our meeting was fruitful,” said Mr. Guerrieri, “and I reconfirmed our Authority’s willingness to ensure a constant and coordinated dialogue in order to identify technical and procedural solutions that will allow us to help the port and logistics network in our area to become increasingly competitive.
During the meeting, Mr. Guerrieri and Mr. Chiara discussed a number of issues arising from the memorandum of understanding signed last October, with particular reference to the digitalization of procedures and the potential that the Simplified Logistic Zones represent for the area.
“I consider Customs to be a fundamental interlocutor for the purposes of the correct performance of the institutional duties that Law 84/94 (the Italian Port Reform law- translator’s note) reserves for Port Network Authorities. Developing traffic and employment cannot be done without the necessary cooperation that the governing body of the ports of Livorno and Piombino must be able to set up with this important institution. I would like to immediately thank Dr. Chiara for his readiness to collaborate. I’m sure our collaboration will be productive and long-lasting.”
