The Covid-19 crisis has not stopped Italian Port Days, an initiative launched in 2019 by Assoporti (the Italian Port Association) with the support of all the Italian Port Authorities with the aim of reaching out to the communities living around the ports.
As part of the OPEN PORT program, the North Tyrrhenian Port Network Authority has decided to dedicate a full program of events to the national initiative with a calendar that runs from October 3 to ’11.
It starts on Saturday, October 3rd. From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. the Livorno Port’s Passenger Terminal will host the Livorno Games Village, an initiative organized by COLLEGO in partnership with Robocode, ArtigianCab and NonsoloComics and dedicated to the world of videogames, LEGO and model making
At 5 p.m. the exhibition of model boats by Giovanni Capecchi, Luciano Sanguinetti, Giovanni Volpi will be inaugurated at the Sala della Cisterna, in the Old Fortress.
At 5.30 p.m., in the Old Fortress’s Sala Ferretti, the Light & Color documentary, shot mainly in Livorno, that the Canadian director David Battistella dedicated to the artistic activity of the Italian-American photographer George Tatge will be screened At 6.00 p.m. his photographic exhibition will be inaugurated at the Sala del Piaggione dei Grani.
On Sunday, October 4th , at 11.30 and 15.30 there will be guided tours of the Old Fortress, thanks to the “A stroll through history” initiative, in collaboration with the Itinera cooperative, which will collect reservations by 18.00 on Saturday, October 3rd , departure Varco Fortezza (tel.: 0586.894563-348.73882094).
On Thursday, October 8th , at 5pm, as part of the “Port Center Thursdays”, there will be a presentation of the book Il Silos Granario nel Porto di Livorno, at the the Old Fortress’s Sala Ferretti. The book has been promoted by Porto Immobiliare and the North Tyrrhenian Port Network Authority, edited by Andrea Cecconi and Olimpia Vaccari and published by Pacini Editore
On Saturday 10th October, guided tours will be organized in the ports of Livorno and Piombino. There will be two visits with 25 places available for each, subject to availability. Reservation is required by email to email@example.com. These are the timetables: Piombino, 10.00 am and 11.30 am, departures from the Passenger Terminal building ; Livorno, 3.00 pm and 4.30 pm, departures from Varco Fortezza.
On Sunday, October 11th , two initiatives are planned. One at 11.00, entitled tiPORTOinbicicletta, a guided bike tour around the Port of Livorno (departure from the Old Fortress).
Another event at 5.30 p.m., the finissage of the George Tatge Photographic Exhibition with the screening of the documentary dedicated to the artist (Sala Ferretti, Fortezza Vecchia).
All the events are free except for Livorno Games Village (info: www.livornogamesvillage.it). They will be subject to the restrictions imposed by current legislation to contain the Covid-19 contagion.
