Institutions and operators working in synergy to define a common approach that allows for the uniform, rational application of the numerous national and regional regulations on the containment of the spread of Covid-19. This is what motivated Claudio Capuano, the man in charge of the Port Network Authority’s Territorial Office in Piombino, to convene the meeting with a multitude of stakeholders which took place yesterday.
Present, among others, representatives from Piombino and Portoferraio Harbour Offices, ferry companies, passenger facility management, the deputy mayor of Piombino, Giuliano Parodi, the mayor of Portoferraio, Angelo Zini, and representatives from Gat (Elba island’s Associated Management for Tourism).
A first draft of the Prevention and Protection Plan referred to in Annex No. 15 of the Prime Ministerial Decree of 17th May was presented during the meeting . The Plan, to be published over the next few days, establishes the procedures for informing users as well as the organizational measures to be implemented in passenger facilities and ports, in particular in the Elban ports of Portoferraio, Rio Marina and Cavo, according to their own specific characteristics.
The participants all expressed unanimous satisfaction with the working method defined by the Port Network Authority and the inclusive approach. “The meeting was positive” – said the Mayor Angelo Zini – “because it brought together the various stakeholders involved in safety issues. It seems to me that the prevention measures that the Port Network Authority presented to us are valid, correct and appropriate. The Protocol that is being defined is to be evaluated positively.”
