“The port of Piombino is ready to welcome the Costa Diadema, with the solidarity of all our institutions. We are working , in constant contact with the Minister, in liaison with the Prefect, Mayor, Tuscany Regional Administration , Civil Protection Dept., Piombino Harbour Master’s Office and other competent institutions, to get the ship moored and manage the disembarkation of crew members in complete safety, minimizing interactions with local citizens ,” said the President of the North Tyrrhenian Port Network Authority, Stefano Corsini, who considers it necessary to start a consultation forum immediately to monitor the whole operation step-by-step.

“This situation is our top priority among the daily emergencies that our Port Authority has to deal with” continued Mr. Corsini – “We will face it with the usual sense of duty and awareness of the particular time our country is going through. In the meantime, we will play our part in continuing to guarantee that our Network ports and their logistic chain remain operational, together with the other Italian ports, to ensure the survival of the population from a health and food point-of-view.”
