The joint operations of the Port Network Authority together with military forces, the Civil Protection dept., Revenue Corps, Municipality, Maritime Health Dept and Harbour Master’s Office to manage the Covid-19 emergency in the port continue.
Following the arrival in Piombino of the cruise ship Costa Diadema with a crew of 1255 people on board, including 105 Italians, the Port Network Authority took action by opening two areas at the passenger terminal’s CISP building to coordinate activities; a control room and an office reserved for doctors from the Maritime Health Dept.
In the control room three video conferences are held every day, one extended to local institutions to take stock of the situation and to resolve any critical issues and two regional ones also extended to the ports of Civitavecchia and Savona, struggling with the same problems of disembarkation and health control of passengers or crew members who risk being infected.
“Together with all the institutions involved” – said the President of the Port Network Authority, Stefano Corsini – “we are closely monitoring the evolution of the situation. Our task force set to work immediately, in full synergy, in the interests of the community. Port Security is working at full capacity to guarantee that the activities of health control and disembarkation are conducted in complete safety.”
